HR Project Manager at the Royal Opera
The Royal Opera is a state-owned limited company with an annual turnover of approximately 600 million SEK. We produce around 20 opera and ballet productions annually, perform approximately 220 shows, hundreds of concerts, and several hundred activities for children and young people. The repertoire spans several centuries and includes both classical and newly written works.
Over 500 permanent employees and as many temporary employees during a year have the Opera as their workplace. We have employees from more than 20 different countries, representing over 120 professional categories. We have a large proportion of mobile staff and work under three different collective agreements.
Background
The Royal Opera is facing a period of significant changes due to a comprehensive renovation of the Opera House. During the renovation period, expected to last about five years, operations will be relocated to other venues. This places entirely new demands on the organization and working conditions. In addition, the Royal Opera has received reduced funding in the coming years. Several of the changes the organization faces will land in HR-related projects or processes.
The HR department currently consists of an HR manager, two HR partners, an HR generalist, and an HR controller, as well as a company nurse. The physiotherapy department, which consists of seven part-time physiotherapists, chiropractors, and a masseur, also reports to the HR manager.
We now wish to strengthen the HR department with a position as HR Project Manager focusing on HR-related projects. The role also includes HR partnership with some administrative functions. An estimate is that the distribution in the role is 75% project and 25% HR support.
Job Description
The focus of the role is to plan, drive, and support the organization through operational adjustments and changes due to altered working methods and reduced funding. You will both be part of and lead cross-functional working groups across the organization, where your task is to be responsible for planning and implementing the conclusions of the working group that fall under HR.
In addition to the relocation, ongoing organizational development continues through various projects, processes, or tools such as those related to work environment, employee or management development, or employee surveys, among others. The Opera is subject to the Public Procurement Act, which means that most of our HR systems, suppliers, or tools are procured through a procurement process in which this person will also be involved.
What we know so far about the relocation:
- The organization will leave a common workplace for about five years.
- Gasometer will be the main stage for our opera and ballet performances.
- Gasometer cannot accommodate rehearsals, craftsmanship creation, or administration, and the organization will be relocated to other venues.
- The operations will carry out other activities outside the main stage, such as tours and guest performances.
Before moving out of the Opera House, various HR projects will be initiated that will run for a long time ahead. The position involves a broad assignment that requires both strategic and operational strength, encompassing labor law, union collaboration, analytics, change management, restructuring, organizational development, and work environment issues.
Requirements Profile
We are looking for someone with solid experience in:
- Project/Process Management
- Union Collaboration
- Labor Law
- Change Management
- HR Processes and Tools
- Experience with transformative projects and public procurement is an advantage
Application
Welcome with your application by March 18. You apply by answering the selection questions and attaching a CV.
If you have questions about the position, please feel free to contact HR Manager Anna Byström. The union contact person is Helena Lindroth from the Academics' Union. You can reach them by email at firstname.lastname@operan.se.
